Delhi Metro’s Blue Line Extension, Noida City Centre- Electronic City Becomes Operational
On Saturday, 9th March’2019, the honorable Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, inaugurated the 6.6 km Noida City Centre- Noida Electronic City metro line, which is an extension of existing Delhi Metro’s Blue Line. This line is completely elevated with six metro stations – sector 34, sector- 52, sector-61, sector-59, sector-62 and Noida Electronic City. The service initiated at 4pm on 9th March’2019 and the current frequency during peak hours would be 5 minutes and 26 seconds. For entire day, the frequency period stretches to 12 minutes and 23 seconds. After adding this elevated section, now the total length of Blue line is 56.6 km from Electronic City to Dwarka sector -21.
It goes without saying that this elevated corridor will benefit Noida residents by connecting the satellite city with the Delhi in the convenient and faster mode. Moreover, this metro line also helps in decongesting the roads by offering eco-friendly mode of transport to thousands of commuters. As now the Electronic City- Noida City Centre section is operational, this extended corridor will bring Blue Line closer to Aqua Line, which connects Noida and Greater Noida.
Prior to this, the PM Modi inaugurated the Dilshad Garden- New Bus Adda section which is 9.63 km long and considered as an extension of the Delhi Red Line Metro. With this elevated corridor, the Delhi Metro reached into the interiors of the twin cities -- Ghaziabad and Sahibabad.
