Nearly a week after announcing to start with land acquisition compensation process for Jewar Airport, the district administration department offered compensation to as many as 40 farmers. As per Balram Singh, Additional District Magistrate (land acquisition) of Gautam Buddh Nagar,” 40 farmers of Ranhera and Parohi villages compensated and the money transferred in their bank accounts. Officials will visit the earmarked land on Tuesday and take the possession”. He further notified that the compensation comprises of Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) benefits along with price of the land and given to those families who are ready to give up the land for the project.
For the first phase of construction, approx 1239 hectares of land required across different villages. The huge stretch of land belongs to 8971 families and out of this 3627 families are giving away their farming and residential land for the construction of the Airport. The entire project of Jewar Airport Construction requires 5,000 hectares of land with an estimated budget of INR 15,000-INR 20,000 crore. The project is expected to be operational by 2022-2023.
